Hanging an Original

It’s such an amazing feeling to hang a piece of your own art on the wall. I travel all around South Dakota and I’m constantly on the road to Sioux Falls. Photography isn’t something I take along with me, it’s something alive that takes me along with it.  I pass this particular tree every other day, and we have this thing.  I always take note of her condition, and somehow she marks the time and place of the season I’m in as well. I’m not just speaking about Summer or Winter, but Up or Down, Joy-Filled or Melancholy, a feeling of Belonging some days, and other days of complete Isolation.  So, I wanted to create an image that reflected that feeling, and this is it.

I took pictures of all four seasons of that tree. It really is something.
George and Debra Shafer live south of there.
